Ladenbesitzer (Shop Owner), the forerunner to Empty Shops, traverses the individual struggle for existence. Shop owners who have faced the challenges of globalization and failed, despite pouring their efforts of time, expertise, emotion and hope into their endeavors. Whilst the spaces have been emptied of their previous contents. We see, laid bare, the loss of the owner’s present and the insecurity of their future.
